“That’s the Latest” by Emery Kleven
Emery is a 1959 graduate of kindergarten at West Concord Elementary and a 1971 graduate of West Concord High School. He’s been a farm broadcaster since 1987 when he started at KDHL Radio in Faribault, MN. Other stops in his farm broadcasting career include Sioux City, IA; West Point, NE, Yankton SD; Omaha, NE and Minneapolis, MN at the Minnesota Farm Network. I started writing this monthly column for Terry Campbell’s West Concord Messenger newspaper in March, 2017. The columns are centered mostly on my remembrances of farm and small town living in southern Minnesota. Some are on my radio career that dates back to radio school in 1971 and my first actual paying radio job at KOWO in Waseca, MN in 1974. There’s been a lot of water under and over the bridge since then but the memories are as fresh as day old bread. The names were not changed to protect the innocent or guilty. I simply leave names out if it’s questionable. I have added more pictures than what can be published in the Messenger. Thanks for stopping by.
